Chapter Thirty One

Pankaj stood waiting in the rest room. Mohit was supposed to have called him an hour ago. But he hadn’t. Pankaj decided against calling him from his mobile. He felt something had gone wrong. If Mohit’s mobile phone malfunctioned he would have called from a pay phone. Something had definitely gone wrong.

Pankaj heard the final call for boarding the Mumbai bound airliner. Had Mohit boarded his flight to Abu Dhabi? What happened to Shweta? Was she still under the influence of the drugs? Or did it lose its effect and had she busted their plan? The dose was meant to have effect for at least twelve hours! He hoped it had gone as planned. He exited the rest room and started walking towards the check-in desk. He saw a lot of police in disguise trying hard to appear natural. But they were unable to hide their identity. They were not trained for this drill.

Pankaj told himself to be careful and not to make any mistake. He kept walking. He would soon get what he had been working for all these years. His Shweta. He thought of the pains he had gone through to make this happen. His mind filled with happiness as he thought of her. But Mohit’s failure to call him stunted that happiness.
